We just returned home to England (end of April 2013) from a short visit to this wonderful Hotel in such a magnificent location. The family run hotel was both relaxing and fun. The views are at least as good as the brochure photos if not better. The food from the competent and adventurous superb Chef was a delight. Rooms were great and much larger than other hotels we have stayed at in this area. Check in was easy & trouble free & the hotel offers free parking. The hotel restaurant Sommelier was most informative & helpful on recommending different wines with the varied courses we enjoyed, One might expect him to have encouraged an expensive vintage but in fact our most costly was only $25 and worthy of much more! He was a gem and so attentive. He obviously enjoys his occupation and chatted at our table with us about the many different wines of the area. We were made to feel most welcome, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. This is a really exciting area to visit and this Hotel is going to always get rapidly full each year. This is a genuine review without bias and we are already seeking to return as soon as we can. Do not concern to ask which rooms are “best†as there are none less than best! Thank you to the Milano family for making a short vacation so enjoyable and luxury so affordable, your efforts well deserves the small but heartfelt praise we bestow here. Magnificent & Recommended to all! Chris Jenny & Loraine.
Amalfi coast retreat

A group of 11 of us stayed here for a week.My husband and I had
booked a double room with a sea view. Our room was lovely with a
reasonable sized bathroom, good storage and hanging space for
clothes and a comfortable bed. We also had a balcony with 2 deck
chairs. We were a bit disappointed that we were on the side of the
hotel and mainly looked at the cliffs and the ocean views were from
our balcony. We were even more disappointed when we saw our friend's
rooms and realized they were all larger and faced the water. We
believed we had requested the same rooms as them months prior to
coming. However we did find our room comfortable although the shower
and screen in the bath were awkward to get into. The room also did
not have a safe. Our package included breakfast and dinner every
day. Meals were eaten on the terrace overlooking the water which was
lovely. Breakfast was basic with only a few choices except for the
beautiful pastries. It was possible to get cooked meals but you had
to pay for them. The meals at night were 3 courses with a choice of
3 dishes for entree and main and a surprise dessert. The standard of
the food was very good and there were only a couple of dishes that
were not as tasty as the others. They also catered for a vegetarian
gluten intolerant lady in our group. Our waiter Pepe was fantastic -
always smiling and helpful. It was possible to do a cooking lesson
with the chef Nikola. This was fantastic and he taught us how to
make pasta, fillings for pasta and different ways to cook it and
sauces for it. He was so patient and friendly and even helped
organize some handlines for a couple of men in the group to do some
fishing off the rocks below.
Also as part of the package there were day trips to Capri and Pompei
these were both great although the Pompei trip did not include entry
fees to Pompei or Vesuvius and you were expected to pay for lunch at
the stop the bus took you to so this added about 70 euro to the day.
A part of the package we did enjoy was the private transfer from
Naples to the hotel in S class Mercedes. Not only were they very
comfortable but allowed a lovely trip on the coast road.
Overall I could recommend this hotel and one of their packages to
anyone wanting to experience fully the Amalfi coast.
Highly recommended

"Superior Room" was lovely with spectacular sea view and small
terrace.Spotlessly clean.Excellent breakfasts and good wholesome
dinners.Safe sea swimming 2 minutes below Hotel and a number of
restaurants in easy walking distance.Praino is an ideal base for the
Costiera Amalfitana and frequent buses leave from the "fermata"
outside the hotel and boat trips/water taxis depart from just below
hotel at Marina de Praia. We really enjoyed returning to the
tranquility of the Onda Verde after a day out visiting the much
busier Positano or Amalfi. The thing that really made our stay
special however was the outstanding friendliness of La Famiglia
Milano and our waiter Pepe.
Grazie mille,Paul and Pam.
Great 1st visit

We decided on a 1st Amalfi coast trip to spend 3 days Positano, take
water taxi to Amalfi (3 nights also) before moving to the mid point
Praiano for a final 2 nights.
It worked well but on a return visit we would make it revolve around
Praiano - the best location on the coast. Onda Verde has an
excellent location - it is not a long walk to the centre of Praiano
20 mins (and all downhill on the way back!).
This was one of the finest hotels I have stayed in, and although we
did not want a car - the SITA buses (stop outside) are fine, i noted
the parking was free.
Cuisine was excellent and the whole hotel had a very sociable feel
and made many new friends sitting on the sun terrace a 90 second
walk from the water.
I would have one small criticism only - that the service charge of
15% preapplied to the food bill is slightly excessive but negoitable
i am sure.
We do not do any tours as we felt that Herculaneum or Pompeii are
best visited on arrival day or the day after if you arrived Naples
in the evening, or maybe on departure day with a driver.
With an evening arrival you can either debunk to Naples or go to
Sorrento (75 mins on the excellent Curreri Viaggi coach shuttle
10Euros) and then use the Circumvesuviana train next morning to go
to Herculaneum or Pompeii which both have left luggage facilities or
alternatively leave luggage at Sorrento hotel for a few hours.
Can't wait to go back - thank you Milano family.

Dream Come True

Have just returned from Italy finishing off with a week at Onde Verde. It is far more fabulous than in the pictures!! Rooms have been updated and are beautifully clean with views to die for! Location is fantastic, wonderful to be able to escape from the crowds. Thank you to Giuseppe for picking figs from his Mother's tree for my breakfast and to the chef for showing me how to make real Ravioli - a fair trade was to get him to taste Vegemite! We have left behind friends, and brought home wonderful memories.
We Did It Again!!!!
Recensito il 19 settembre 2012
After our first visit to Onde Verde our dream was to return and we
did! We spent a perfect ten days there in August and were not
disappointed. The Milano family are so welcoming, Miro and Frencsco
can't do enough for you, whether it is helping to organize a tour,
bus ticket or just to have a chat, nothing is too much trouble. We
did half board so each morning we enjoyed choosing our evening meal,
there was plenty of choice and the food is delicious. Nicola, the
chef produced the most amazing meals, fresh pasta, seafood, I could
go on and on!! My only regret is that I didn't ask for a couple of
recipes!
Two other people that helped to make the trip so much fun are
Raphael and Guiseppe. They are the best waiters we have come across,
so friendly, always remember what you like and certainly make each
guest feel very special. They are a real asset to the Onde Verde.
The hotel itself is a true getaway. From the moment you step into
the lift and go down to the sixth floor you know something special
is about to happen and when you step out and see the most beautiful
view, it couldn't be more magical. The rooms are lovely, no
complaints there either!
We used both the bus and the water taxis to get around, Amalfi and
Positano are only a short, of course a trip by water is a great way
to see the beauty of the coastline. The tours to Capri, Pompeii and
Mt Vesuvius are well organized and worth doing. You really are in
another world when you stay at Hotel Onde Verde and once again, we
want to go back!!!!
UN-REAL!!

Onda Verde has got to be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! It has a spectacular view and beautiful rooms. Adding to the surreal and natural beauty of this hotel dug deep down into the mountain, the chef, Nicola and waiter, Giuseppe truly made this experience one I will never forget! They are truly accommodating and just want to make you happy. This hotel is incredibly picturesque and it's beaches are inhabited by the locals of the area which makes it truly authentic. Despite the number of stairs, the hotel is situated only a short walk away from the spectacular mediterranean sea where you can take a water taxi to any one of the other towns along the Amalfi Coast. This hotel, with all its staff make for a truly phenomenal stay for any occasion.
Amazing in every way!

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Onda Verde to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was so amazing in every way! Francesco was incredible at making us feel welcome and cared for. The entire staff was so warm and truly went out of their way to make every detail perfect. They really made us feel at home. We had the most amazing balcony and view from our room. The decor is beautiful and the rooms were spotless. From the late night chocolate cakes, to the fresh coffee and figs in the morning, to the views, to the location, this place was everything we hoped for. We loved Praiano because it was this authentic little fishing village compared to the some of the more touristy towns. The entire Amalfi coast is stunning. One of the most romantic trips ever. We are definitely coming back!!!
PERFECT PLACE FOR THE BUSY BUSINESS PERSON TO FORGET ABOUT WORK!
Recensito il 11 settembre 2012
I am an international consultant with a schedule that is beyond busy
accompanied with high stress levels. For anyone with a life like
mine, I highly recommend Hotel Onda Verde to destress. A boutique
hotel dating back three generations, the views from your room and
its restaurant are breathtaking.
You are pushed towards tranquility in a place like this because of
its intimacy, privacy and good old fashion hospitality. Whether you
wish to sleep till Noon, or wake up early in the morning for a
wonderful site seeing boat ride to Capri or a short bus ride to
Amalfi or Ravello, this hotel is convenient to experience all there
is on the Amalfi Coast.
The food is prepared with a lot of care and a gastronomic delight.
The Chefs are friendly. The entire staff from the front dest to the
daily cleaning crew are kind and helpful to ensure your stay is
relaxing. If you decide to come, leave the laptop at home or off.
Text or SMS only photos and positive messages about your stay here.
Leave work where it belongs - in the Mediterranean sea until you
return home.
Perfect in every way

My mother and I stayed 8 nights in room 119 which has a very pretty
decor, a comfortable bed and a balcony with an unbelievable view!
Miro and his staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. They organized
excellent excursions (to Capri and Pompeii) and the car service was
superb. Chef Nicola and his restaraunt staff serve a delicious
breakfast buffet and gourmet dinners made with fresh, local (many
home-grown) ingredients. Definitely take a cooking class as it was
an excellent experience!
All the regional towns can be reached via water taxi (which the
front desk gladly arranges). The stand is located steps away from
the hotel and the little boats provide personal and convenient
service to all destinations at a reasonable price. The local Sita
bus is another (less costly, but less fun) option.
We spent 9 days exploring the area and there isn't a more wonderful
place to stay on the entire Amalfi Coast.
We highly recommend Hotel Onda Verde!!
Perfect hotel for honeymoon or Amalfi Coast holiday.

Simply put, we loved this hotel. The location is perfect- the beach is less crowded than neighboring towns. The food was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time on our honeymoon and can't wait to get back.
Love!

We loved the hotel. Everything was wonderful- the room, the food, the service, the view, the weather was even perfect. At first we thought maybe we should have stayed in a busier town on the coast but after visiting Positano and Amalfi, we were happy we didn't. I would go back to the hotel again
Breath taking view and relaxing location on the Amalfi Coast

We stayed for 5 nights and wished we had booked longer. The staff at Hotel Onda Verde are very accomodating and the room was fantastic. There are no words to adequately describe the beauty of sitting on the lanai outside the bedroom, looking out on the sea or sitting on the restaurant terrace for breakfast and dinner overlooking the small port. And to make the experience over the top, Guiseppe is an outstanding waiter! The food was scrumptious. We highly recommend getting the package which includes the car to and from the airport, breakfast and dinner and the boat excursion to Capri. This was the best vacation we have ever taken. (The photos on the website are spot-on.)
Woonderful Hotel
Recensito il 29 agosto 2012
We stayed here for 6 days and found the hotel clean, the staff
friendly and very helpful and the rooms spotless. What more could
one ask for. The breakfast was plentyful with all sorts of cakes,
salami, cheese, cereals, yoghurts, plentiful fruits and what scenery
as you sit on the veranda eating. We could not fault the hotel at
all. Nice and peaceful too if you just wanted to relax. Aircon is a
bit noisy though!
We dined there a couple of evenings and there is a wide choice on
the menu although not too much for vegetarians. A lot of fish of
course as would be expected but we have no complaints. The waiter
Giuseppe or 'Pepe' was helpful and chatty and made us very welcome.
The only exception to this was one night there was complete power
failure in the area so had no water and we could not use the lift
and we had to climb steps on the outside of the hotel to the top as
our room was near street level. So not good if you are unable to
climb steps or have a disability. But we hope to go back again and
would definitely recommend.
Great hotel for relaxing.

We visited Hotel Onda Verde for our honeymoon this month. The hotel
is very nice with great views of the Amalfi coast. Very romantic and
ideal for a relaxing time. Praiano is a quite village but still very
near Positano and Amalfi. The hotel is also 1 minute away from the
famous Africana club.
The staff was very helpful and polite and did everything they could
to make us feel comfortable. They arranged a boat trip for us and
the other guests to visit Positano the night of the 15th August to
celebrate Ferragosto and watch the AMAZING fireworks from the sea.
The food at the restaurant was very good, especially the homemade
pasta! The waiter there (I can't remeber his name) was a very
friendly gentleman who made us feel as part of the family.
The room we stayed in was a double room. It was small but featured a
common balcony with the room next door which was quite nice! If you
want to have a relaxing and romantic time, you must stay at the Onda
Verde. We will definetely be coming back!! Thank you for the
wonderful stay!
Stunning Location and Great Service
Recensito il 27 agosto 2012
My partner and I spent 4 glorious days at the Hotel Onde Verde.
Built onto a cliff outside of Praiano, there is no other location
that captures the heart and soul of the Amalfi coast like the Hotel
Onda Verde. It's like being on a movie set. The website accurately
depicts the hotel.
The views are stunning (see pictures attached). The location is
perfect for day tripping to Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Pompeii and
Ravello. The beach/cove is just below the hotel in a protected bay
and to the right is a old castle on the point. It just doesn't get
any better than this.
The service and restaurant were very good. Parking and breakfast are
included. The room is very clean. I read some of the reviews that
were less glowing and I think some clarification is needed. This is
not a "chain" hotel like a Starwood or Intercontinental hotel. This
is a family-run Italian hotel and it delivers on all aspects of this
segment of hotel. For example, Italian hotels have tile or wood
floors - not carpeting. The furniture is traditional. The breakfast
buffet (included in the room rate) was good and typical of what you
would find in this type of hotel. But if you are expecting a huge
Starwood style breakfast buffet or a large hotel features, then this
is not the place for you (but you will be missing a lot by not
staying here).
We had room 119 which is the top floor and the view outside our
window/balcony was breath taking. It was very hot during our stay
(35-38 C) and the air conditioning worked very well. The room was
quiet and well insulated from other guests.
It was a great experience and we highly recommend this hotel to
anyone who wants the ultimate experience on the Amalfi coast. All
the pictures attached were taken from Room 119 or from the
restaurant of the hotel.
Treated like family
Recensito il 21 agosto 2012
We stayed here 7 nights while celebrating our friends' wedding. Milo, Francesco, Raphael, Giuseppe and the rest of the staff treated us like family. The food and service was excellent. The property and views were beautiful. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. All for a very reasonable package price that included guided tours of Capri and Pompeii. Without a doubt, this was the best hotel stay we ever had, and we look forward to returning sometime soon.
Beautiful hotel and amazing staff

We had such an amazing time celebrating our brother and sister-in-law's wedding at Hotel Onda Verde. The hotel was breathtakingly beautiful and the staff welcomed us as part of their family. It was an experience and vacation all of us will never forget and we hope to see you again soon. Thanks for everything.

Tranquility and beauty in the Amalfi!
Recensito il 10 agosto 2012
Onda Verde is truly an awesome place to stay, when in the Amalfi.
Nestled in the middle of many other smaller "paese", it is an ideal
hotel to use as a home base while venturing off as much or as little
as one wants. The possibilities and adventures are limitless.
During our vacation, we visited Venice, Florence, Amalfi and Rome.
There is no doubt that we truly enjoyed our stay in the Amalfi the
most. The hotel with its staff (Francesco, Miro, Peppe, Pietro and
of course, chef Nicola, among many!) made our stay incredible and
unforgettable. We vacationed with friends and while our rooms were
next to each other, the 2 rooms shared a "terrazzo" with lawn
chairs. We felt like we were on our own private beach, overlooking
the waters of the Amalfi in the comfort of our private space. It is
impossible to walk the facility without being greeted numerous times
in a day, with a "Buon giorno"! Our questions were always answered
and many awesome suggestions for day trips were offered during our
breakfast conversations with Peppe or Pietro. The food was
unbelievable!!!! Chef Nicola is a master at his skill, preparing
delicious dishes at breakfast and dinner. (If you like seafood, you
will think you have died and gone to heaven!!!) What other hotel
offers freshly made "zeppole" for breakfast? And what chef openly
writes his receipe and comes over to share tips on how to ensure
successful results
without asking?
I highly recommend this hotel. I can't wait to go back and this
time, it will ONLY be the Amalfi for the entire vacation!!!!
Grazie mille per tutto. La vostra gentilezza era veramente
incredibile. Auguri alla vostra familigia per un locale
straordinario. Speriamo che ci incontriamo di nuovo fra poco.

Favourite Place on Earth!
Recensito il 10 agosto 2012
I've been here 5 times now since 98 -- so colour me biased -- but
the Onda Verde is still my favourite place to go to relax and
recharge. Our last visit was for 8 days in July 2012.
The location is spectacular. Website photos don't do it justice.
Halfway between Amalfi and Positano is perfect in that you can visit
the touristy spots when you want -- or just hang out on a lounge --
jumping in the water when you feel like it.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, air-con works, staff is attentive
and friendly, food is great.
I've seen all types staying here -- couples, singles, families with
kids etc -- although not many really young (under 7 or so kids).
Ideal for honeymooners -- I've referred several couples and they've
all loved it.
The Onda Verde is a quiet hotel -- if you're interested in constant
partying or action I'd suggest staying in Positano as there is more
'happening' there.
The staff knows the area well and their English is good -- very
helpful. The family built and developed the hotel and know Praiano
and the area well -- they can organise about anything for you --
just ask. They are used to American, British and European tourists
so are able to communicate well -- but they still are Italian enough
that you know you're in Italy -- not some Vegas-esque experience.
We love it -- Tell them Mr. Steve sent you!
